It was most wonderful really to run into one of the prides of jolly old England in none other than Mel C of the Spice Girls @ Perez Hilton’s official MMVA afterparty. Melanie was very kind enough to grant yours truly an exclusive, one-of, rare KayvonTV interview.
A true treasure & geniune fan favourite indeed! Rock on Miss Chisholm! Girl Power!
Here is my interview with the very gracious and also very attractive members of Girlicious, the fast-rising American pop girl group formed by Robin Antin on the reality television series The Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious in 2008. The group consists of Nichole Cordova, Tiffanie Anderson, Chrystina Sayers and Natalie Mejia, and they were all nice enough to take the time out of their hectic schedule to grace KayvonTV with an interview while at Perez Hilton’s official MMVA 2008 afterparty.
It’s true folks! Mr.Gene Simmons does indeed make his return appearance to KayvonTV!! I am proud to report that this time around he was much nicer & more kind to us! (Must possibly have something to do with the fact that he was being paid to be nice or polite by the great folks at Franks Energy Drink)
Mr.Simmons went out of his way to be accommodating toward everyone that was in the 7-11 convenience store for his promotional appearance on behalf of Frank’s there, and I am very proud to report that Gene finally posed for that all important picture with me that he so graciously ignored way earlier back in the month of May.(watch KayvonTV’s first run-in with Gene)
It was great to run into the legendary Rock God himself once again! He even personally asked me about KayvonTV which was Super Fantastic really!! Cheers to the legendary ‘Demon’ of the ‘Hottest Band In The World’ & the money savvy bass guitarist with the longest tongue going! Lick it up folks!!!
It was a great thing to hear that one of my childhood buddies, Imaan Faith, was rising to the top of Canada’s Hip-Hop scene. It didn’t take long for Imaan Faith to become one of hip-hop’s most innovative personalities, bringing with him a story that sounds like a folktale from his Muslim heritage. Born and raised in politically-charged Iran, he was immigrating to New York in the early 1990’s that first brought rap culture to Imaan’s attention. Often donating food to youth centres across the city from his family’s new Tehran cookery, Imaan began seeing comparisons between the poverty of minorities in America and those in his former home of the Middle East.
Fleeing to Canada in the late 1990’s to avoid anti-Muslim hate crimes that began spreading in New York, Imaan’s family was shocked to find similar anti-Muslim sentiments in Toronto, which soon led to Imaan being placed in a detention facility for repeated fighting.
When a drug dealer appointed himself Imaan’s personal bodyguard after hearing him freestyle to fight off anti-Muslim inmates, Imaan began to see hip-hop as a true calling and spent the rest of his incarcerated months writing dozens of songs ranging from aids awareness (”You Got A Choice”) to current events (”Letter For Tookie”).
Fresh off the release of his new album, “Let the Truth be known”, Imaan is a truly great Canadian Talent and KayvonTV will continue to follow the career of GUTZ Records brightest rising star!
Props to my main man, Marshall Mathers, aka Slim Shady for writing these mad sick disgusting rhymes. Mad Respect, to Johnny B’s in Whitby, Dr.Dre, Fitty Cent, Banks and the whole entire G-Unit. Last but not least I wanna send love to Rocket, Wiff, Burger, and the entire BnS crew, I couldn’t of done it without your support!
With the National Hockey League’s Stanley Cup Playoffs in full bloom, I thought this would be the perfect time to flash back to last years’ NHL Awards and my surprise encounter with none other than “Mr.Hockey” himself, the legendary Gordie Howe.
Gordie is one of the greatest players to ever lace up the skates! He is an NHL Hall of Famer who played for the Detroit Red Wings and Hartford Whalers of the National Hockey League (NHL). Mr.Hockey also played with the Houston Aeros and New England Whalers in the World Hockey Association (WHA).
The funny or ironic thing was that I bumped into former NHL great and one of Gordie’s longtime fellow teammates in none other than Mr. Tony McKegney! Unfortunately, however, the focus and attention I had on Mr.McKegney seemed to all of a sudden have abruptly ended when Mr.Howe’s presence became known outside of the stage door of the storied Elgin & Winter Garden Theatre in downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada! In fact, the hockey fans gathered around outside there were in absolute awe and a frenzy was soon let loose on the beloved hockey god himself! Quite the scene it was there indeed!
I also ran into Tyler Stewart of legendary Toronto band, the Barenaked Ladies. Mr.Stewart was indeed very happy to see me! We chatted for a bit with each other! It was fantastic really! I just hope he remembered to say hi to my fellow Englishman and former NHL great, Mr. Steve ‘Stumpy’ Thomas! I do really admire Stumpy and his charismatic ways! For afterall, he was one of the true gentlemen and consumate professionals (much like Mr.Hockey and the Great One) to ever have played in both the American Hockey League (AHL) and the NHL during his fantastic career! A real competitor and gritty leader he was in the sport of ice hockey nonetheless, who was the heart n’ soul of the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Chicago Blackhawks for many years during his time in the NHL!
All in all a great night it truly was and a really fun time had by all in attendance that evening! Pure magic! In fact folks, I can hardly wait for the 2008 edition of the NHL Awards ceremonies here in Hockey Town to start all over again! Quite simply put: the NHL still is the coolest game on earth! Cheers to the legend of Mr.Hockey! Game On!
With the success of Wyclef Jean’s new album, the Carnival Vol. II: Memoirs of an Immigrant, and with his latest single “the Sweetest Girl” topping the charts for the last couple months, I thought this would be the perfect time to look back on the night that I caught up with the great Wylcef Jean at Matt Damon’s OneXOne Charity Event at the brand new Opera House in Downtown, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Mr.Jean had some cool things to say about the Carnival Vol. II, which features everyone from Mary J. Blige to Paul Simon to Chamillionaire. With production by T.I. and will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas, this album has been burring a hole through CD decks everywhere since it’s release, an instant classic I highly recommend copping it.
Hope you enjoy the interview, Stay tuned to KayvonTV for more great episodes!!
It was a great honour and thrill to be in attendance at this years Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame induction to watch none other then Alanis Morisette accept her lifetime achievement award.
I had many questions to ask the great Alanis Morissette, I wanted to find out for myself if my favorite show from back in the day, “You Can’t Do This On Television”, might be poised for a comeback.
Congratulations Alanis, you have been a shining light for the Canadian music scene since your glam rock days, it was a pleasure to finally meet you.
Immediately following my memorable encounter with KRS-ONE at Canada Music Week, I bumped into a most interesting fellow in the lobby of the Royal York hotel.
At first I thought he might be one of those evil Scientology guys, who for all I know might be following me around however it turned out to be none other then the great Minista Zin Uru from the Temple of Hip-Hop and all he wanted to do was to inform me about the gospel of the Temple.
The Temple of Hip-Hop was founded in 1996 By KRS-ONE, with the support of Professor Z, Chuck D, Big Daddy Kane, Kool DJ Herc, Afrika Bambaataa, Fat Joe, and many others, KRS-ONE also wrote a book that I urge you all to read entitled “The Gospel of Hip-Hop”, the book contains lot of real life pointers that might help you through your day.
For instance, did you know that Rap is something you do, but Hip-Hop is something you live?
What a great thing this Hip-Hop temple is, now only I could find myself the temple of new wave rock, then I’d be straight.
I have always sort of had a thing for the women who win Miss Canada, so it was a great personal thrill to spot the latest winner in the Lobby of the Royal York Hotel during day 3 of Canadian Music Week.
I had a couple of questions to ask Miss Canada, which managed to be rather tricky since her people seemed hell-bent on stopping me.
I also caught up with Soze Brooks of Mosaic Music (that’s right folks, the dude who produced the latest Mayhem Morearty Mixtape), as well as Big Jesse, founder of the super great Hip-Hop Canada website, the place that I cop all my urban related mixtapes from.
Props to Miss Canada, Soze Brooks, Big Jesse, Mayhem Morearty, My boys at BnS, Rocket, Glen Anderson, Wiff, and everyone else that has supported the K from day one. You know who you are, I don’t have to tell you, peace, I’m audi 3000!!
One of the great highlights of this years Canadian Music Week was catching up to DJ Bobby Digital himself, yes folks, the one and only RZA aka The Zig Zag Zig Allah.
RZA is an American music producer, rapper, director and actor. A prominent figure in hip hop music, he is the de facto leader of the hip hop group Wu-Tang Clan. Rza recently put his touches on the just released Wu-Tang 8 Diagrams album.
RZA gave a great keynote speech, afterwards I had many questions to ask the great leader of The Wu-Tang Clan, mostly I wanted to ask the R-Z-A if he had borrowed the Wu Tang W from the Wimbledon W? He was surprised at this line of questioning to say the least but I still say I think that my hometown should properly investigate this matter.
Stay tuned to KayvonTV to see part two of my meeting with The RZA.
