It’s true folks! Mr.Gene Simmons does indeed make his return appearance to KayvonTV!! I am proud to report that this time around he was much nicer & more kind to us! (Must possibly have something to do with the fact that he was being paid to be nice or polite by the great folks at Franks Energy Drink)
Mr.Simmons went out of his way to be accommodating toward everyone that was in the 7-11 convenience store for his promotional appearance on behalf of Frank’s there, and I am very proud to report that Gene finally posed for that all important picture with me that he so graciously ignored way earlier back in the month of May.(watch KayvonTV’s first run-in with Gene)
It was great to run into the legendary Rock God himself once again! He even personally asked me about KayvonTV which was Super Fantastic really!! Cheers to the legendary ‘Demon’ of the ‘Hottest Band In The World’ & the money savvy bass guitarist with the longest tongue going! Lick it up folks!!!

It was a great thing to hear that one of my childhood buddies, Imaan Faith, was rising to the top of Canada’s Hip-Hop scene. It didn’t take long for Imaan Faith to become one of hip-hop’s most innovative personalities, bringing with him a story that sounds like a folktale from his Muslim heritage. Born and raised in politically-charged Iran, he was immigrating to New York in the early 1990’s that first brought rap culture to Imaan’s attention. Often donating food to youth centres across the city from his family’s new Tehran cookery, Imaan began seeing comparisons between the poverty of minorities in America and those in his former home of the Middle East.
Fleeing to Canada in the late 1990’s to avoid anti-Muslim hate crimes that began spreading in New York, Imaan’s family was shocked to find similar anti-Muslim sentiments in Toronto, which soon led to Imaan being placed in a detention facility for repeated fighting.
When a drug dealer appointed himself Imaan’s personal bodyguard after hearing him freestyle to fight off anti-Muslim inmates, Imaan began to see hip-hop as a true calling and spent the rest of his incarcerated months writing dozens of songs ranging from aids awareness (”You Got A Choice”) to current events (”Letter For Tookie”).
Fresh off the release of his new album, “Let the Truth be known”, Imaan is a truly great Canadian Talent and KayvonTV will continue to follow the career of GUTZ Records brightest rising star!

Minista

Immediately following my memorable encounter with KRS-ONE at Canada Music Week, I bumped into a most interesting fellow in the lobby of the Royal York hotel.
At first I thought he might be one of those evil Scientology guys, who for all I know might be following me around however it turned out to be none other then the great Minista Zin Uru from the Temple of Hip-Hop and all he wanted to do was to inform me about the gospel of the Temple.
The Temple of Hip-Hop was founded in 1996 By KRS-ONE, with the support of Professor Z, Chuck D, Big Daddy Kane, Kool DJ Herc, Afrika Bambaataa, Fat Joe, and many others, KRS-ONE also wrote a book that I urge you all to read entitled “The Gospel of Hip-Hop”, the book contains lot of real life pointers that might help you through your day.
For instance, did you know that Rap is something you do, but Hip-Hop is something you live?
What a great thing this Hip-Hop temple is, now only I could find myself the temple of new wave rock, then I’d be straight. –>

Keith

It was a true honer to be able to talk with a person who has crafted so many beets that I jam to on a daily bases. Yes Folks!!! Mr.Keith Harris, the man who crafted Jully Black’s “Seven Day Fool”, and who was also the producer for a little group you might have heard of called the Black Eyed Peas.
I was most amazed with the list of musicians that Keith has worked with over the years, ranging anywhere from Fergie to Michael Jackson, all and all I must say it was quite interesting to be able to talk to a man as talented and diverse as Keith.

Continuing our coverage of Canadian Music Week at the Royal York Hotel in downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It was a real thrill to run into Montreal based rapper, and Gangstarr disciple Bless of Platinumberg Entertainment fame.
He gave me the lowdown on many things, including his new album “The Book of Bless”, his plans for CMW, and some insightfull tips regarding the art of the Hip-Hop mixtape.
A very interesting and informative fellow, “Bless” his heart!!!

What a fantastic time we had during Canadian Music Week. It really is an amazing annual event that’s dedicated to the expression and growth of the country’s music business. Saturday was the urban hip-hop day featuring keynote interviews with KRS-one and RZA. And what a surprise we had when the rap legend himself, KRS-one walked right by me as he made his way to his keynote speech. Of course, it wouldn’t be KayvonTV if we didn’t try to catch up with KRS-one for an interview. And what a surprise I had when the man himself grabbed me mike and shared some wisdom’s.

Hey Folks! You know how I just love to dance. And when Ms. Jully Black performed “Seven Day Fool” (in honour of me?) at the opening night party for Canadian Music Week - I just couldn’t keep my feet still. I can highly recommend Ms. Blacks latest CD, Revival. A most fantastic collection of tunes by this Canadian songstress.

KayvonTV interviews Chic founder and super producer Nile Rodgers during Canadian Music Week 2007

Another edition of Canadian Music Week is just around the corner - and KayvonTV will be on the scene and reporting. Here’s an interview I did during last years music festival. What an honour and privilege it was to sit down with Mr. Nile Rodgers. From founding the seventies era disco band Chic to producing for Madonna and David Bowie - Nile Rodgers had made an indelible mark on pop music. He even had something to do with creating rap’s first hit record - Rapper’s Delight. Enjoy!

Well this day didn’t exactly turn out how I would have liked. We were off to meet one of the greatest rock showmen in history - Mr. Gene Simmons of KISS fame. But there was just something that Mr. Simmons didn’t like. Could it be the camera? Surprising considering the vast array of reality programming that Mr. Simmons lends his talents too. So why not KayvonTV.com?

I got a very different reaction recently when I met another rock god - Mr. Rob Halford of Judas Priest. That episode was a very different experience for me.
