I first met “the Queen of All Media” Perez Hilton, one year ago at Hilary Duff’s 2007 MMVA after party. Our now classic KayvonTV was taped outside of that very party. This episode really helped launch KayvonTV into the public conscience and remains a fan favorite so far right to this very day in time! A real clip for the ages indeed!!
Perez Hilton was in Toronto once again to attend the 2008 version of the same awards, this time however he hosted his very own after party in the heart of little Italy. I really thought we hit it off on our earlier meeting and I couldn’t let the opportunity pass me by to once again grace the Queen of all media with my incredible presence.

Not to be mixed up or confused in any way, shape, or form with his female socialite counterpart namesake of Paris Hilton! He, unlike her, is in fact the undisputed Queen of all media! He is the one with the superfantastic blog.

As many of you folks already know… I am across the pond right now visiting back home in England. One of the highlights of my trip is to attend the premiere at Southampton’s Harbour Lights theatre of Hugh Cornwell’s first movie project - BLUEPRINT. To celebrate the occasion of Hugh’s new film we post this episode of KayvonTV when I had the chance and honour to sit down with Hugh a few months back while he was touring in Toronto for a wide ranging interview. We touched on many subjects from Mr. Cornwell’s early fame with The Stranglers to his present day solo career. Enjoy!
It was a great thing to hear that one of my childhood buddies, Imaan Faith, was rising to the top of Canada’s Hip-Hop scene. It didn’t take long for Imaan Faith to become one of hip-hop’s most innovative personalities, bringing with him a story that sounds like a folktale from his Muslim heritage. Born and raised in politically-charged Iran, he was immigrating to New York in the early 1990’s that first brought rap culture to Imaan’s attention. Often donating food to youth centres across the city from his family’s new Tehran cookery, Imaan began seeing comparisons between the poverty of minorities in America and those in his former home of the Middle East.
Fleeing to Canada in the late 1990’s to avoid anti-Muslim hate crimes that began spreading in New York, Imaan’s family was shocked to find similar anti-Muslim sentiments in Toronto, which soon led to Imaan being placed in a detention facility for repeated fighting.
When a drug dealer appointed himself Imaan’s personal bodyguard after hearing him freestyle to fight off anti-Muslim inmates, Imaan began to see hip-hop as a true calling and spent the rest of his incarcerated months writing dozens of songs ranging from aids awareness (”You Got A Choice”) to current events (”Letter For Tookie”).
Fresh off the release of his new album, “Let the Truth be known”, Imaan is a truly great Canadian Talent and KayvonTV will continue to follow the career of GUTZ Records brightest rising star!
